The story behind Mahan Marketing is a funny one because honestly? I almost talked myself out of this.

Not because I doubted what I could do for clients. But because starting something of your own means the outcome is entirely yours to carry. The wins. The losses. The “what if this doesn’t work” at 2am. That kind of weight takes a minute to get comfortable with.

For a long time I let it sit there. A plan I kept refining but never launched. A business that existed in notes apps and late-night daydreams while I showed up every day and did the work for someone else.

It wasn’t a dramatic moment. Just a room full of people at Las Vegas Tech Alley who had already done what I kept putting off. I remember listening to them and thinking: they’re not that different from me. They just decided sooner.

That was the shift. I stopped waiting until I felt ready and started moving like I already was.

Not another agency cranking out content on autopilot. Not templated strategies copy-pasted from one client to the next or completely AI driven social medias. I’d seen too much of that. Small business owners deserve better.

When you actually take the time to understand the business, the founder’s vision, the customer’s language, and what makes that company irreplaceable then the marketing almost writes itself. The problem is most businesses never get that level of attention. That’s not what I do.
